It is a new day with new information and new events. At the moment, Paul is having a picc line installed. It is a more permanent IV that if necessary, he can go home with it. It is being installed to deliver a more efficient means of nourishment to him. Maybe his new set of insides will finally get the message and start working with their new routes.
They actually just installed the line. A fabulous learning experience, but not an easy one if the blood and needles are something that makes you a little weak in the knees. I was doing ok until the exacto knife thingie went into the site in his left arm and needles and wires of various sizes were inserted and taken out. The miracles of modern science still don't account for a weak constitution. Paul will have all of his other IV's taken out once they can see thru an xray that the tiny tube installed into the vein will be running its proper course. Yippee! Instant delivery of good nutrients directly into a vein called the left basilic. For you numbers people, the catheter length is 55cm, the French size is 5 and the catheter was threaded approx. 51cm. Gotta love those numbers.....may the jokes begin for all you smarty pants out there.
As far as other numbers, his bilirubin count is now down to 1.3 - can I get a hallelujah???? His white cell count is now down to 20,000 with normal being 10,000. Oh the normal for bilirubin is 1. We are on the way to happy street.
Another CT is in his future. We will keep you posted on other events. These are the most recent. Now I am off to lunch after feeling a little lightheaded(no jokes about that being my normal state of mind) and I attest that it is due to no food so far today and it is going on 11:00 am.
So I hope you are all enjoying the blog even though the man of the hour is not able to entertain you. I am known as the opening act and mr main event will be back up on stage in no time.
A big hug to you all and bye for the moment,
Love,
Cathy
